Community Coordinator (CC)

CCs are live-in campus staff that serve as students' and families' first point of contact for their time at NCSSM, they also serve as first responders for emergencies. CCs build community on their halls through fun, wellness, and educational activities. They provide support to students with personal counseling, by connecting them to resources, and by mediating conflict. 

Vee Olgin

Hey there! My name is Vee (they/them), I grew up in Bay Area, CA, I studied Environmental Science at Mills College, and made my way to Asheville, NC in 2019 where I fell in love with gardening and the Appalachian Mountains. I am passionate about mental and emotional wellness including embodied practices and self exploration through art. I'm excited to bring those passions along with my interests in gardening, dance, and jewelry making to our hall. When I'm not working I'm probably swimming in the Eno River or hanging out with my cats!

I'm in my second year at NCSSM and also serve as the RLA Coordinator. I look forward to building our hall community and supporting students as they navigate challenges, transitions, and accomplishments during their time at NCSSM. Residential Life Assistants (RLAs)

RLAs are senior students that provide leadership, advice, and support for students on hall.  They also help with the day to day running of the hall by taking check, checking housekeeping, and hosting community building activities.

Olivia Chen

HEYY 2B!! My name is Olivia (she/her) and I’ll be one of your RLAs this year! I’m originally from Indiana but I grew up in Charlotte, NC. I love to make and eat food (guacamole WARRIOR), listen to and make music, and TAKE PICTURES!!! Be prepared 2B in some (2)B-roll of this next year 📸 😉. I am an avid sunset chaser and firmly believe the best place to watch the sky on campus is at the top of Watts staircase. I can’t wait to meet everyone and look forward to the first of many karaoke nights!

Shirley Chen

Hi 2B stars 🤩!! My name is Shirley Chen (she/her) and I’m so excited to be one of your RLAs this year!! I’ve lived in Princeton, NC (near Goldsboro) for about 8 years now but I’ve lived all over the east coast. Dancing, art, music, shopping, fashion, and food all make me happy 😊. Some of my favorite films include Titanic, Harry Potter series, and Twilight series. I also love love love watching c-dramas and k-dramas (always down to binge). Catherine Parker

Hi!! My name is Catherine Parker (she/her) and I am ecstatic to be one of your 2nd Bryan RLAs. I've lived in Mebane, North Carolina my entire (conscious) life so Durham isn't too far from home. Some of my hobbies are cooking, hiking, ice or roller skating, making bracelets, and, of course, watching movies and tv shows. I am an H2O fanatic and I love the Princess Bride. I'm looking forward to meeting y'all and I'm so so ready for all of the late night movie nights! <333
